How to be safe on Pay-pal, Ebay, and all any other websites out there where you can buy things online using your credit card.
The fact of the matter is that if you're careful about where you shop and who you trust your credit card info with, shopping with your credit card online is just as safe as shopping with it in a brick and mortar store.
When you do use your credit card online, make sure that you only use it on secure sites. you can tell if a site is secure by looking at the URL address. If it starts with https:// instead of http://, the site is secure.
Even if your credit card information should fall into the wrong hands, most credit card companies have fraud protection policies which limit your liability to pay for fraudulent charges. If charges that you didnt authorize appear on your credit card statement, you can call your credit card company and dispute the charges.
I recommend IE 7.0 and above as it checks for Phishing. in the field of computer security, phishing is the criminally fraudulent process of attempting to acquire sensitive information such as usernames, passwords and credit card details by masquerading as a trustworthy entity in an electronic communication.

I don't think there is any guaranteed way to be safe using a credit card online, because you just never know. the best way to do this is to check if the page is secure; if the URL address starts with https:// rather than http:// then it is safe. But just in case someone does find a way to get your credit card number remember that most credit card companies have fraud prtoection. or if you have unauthorized charges on your credit card statement call the company and dispute the charges.

The first and most important part to remember is that your computer must be clean! make sure to use a decent security suite suck as Norton 2009 or Kaspersky. Also Pay-Pal does offer a credit card that is only used for online purchases. as with any credit cards they are protected for fraudulent activity.
It's also not a bad idea to scan your PC for malware before doing the transaction. I do. it will look for keyloggers, trojans, and other stuff that could compromise your information.
