I live on that amount & have done so for many years. My rent: $350 a month, My utilities anywhere from $90-$150 a month depending on the seasons. My credit card bill is roughly $350-450 a month (gas, groceries mostly) Internet & cellphone combined is $20. I have no cable.
I would refute the no cash advice. Giving yourself a cash allowance is helpful, at least to me. If I don't have cash, I know I can't spend. It's so easy to charge everything and then be surprised at how high your credit card bill is, and the interest rates on them are huge, especially for younger people with no credit.
It takes a lot longer to pay off a credit card bill than it takes to run it up. And being overly-thrifty for months to pay off a bill is a lot less fun than whatever you spent the money on in the first place.
Today’s credit card bill had a £49 charge for Amazon Prime. I knew I’d not paid for that, so I checked, and quickly realised that I’d signed up for a free month, but stupidly didn’t read the small (tiny, bottom of page below all the exciting stuff about how wonderful the service was) print about the automatic enrolment.
Paid all my credit card bills feel kinda relieved jus gotta pay my phone bill then JAMAICA FOR DAMN NEAR 3 WEEKS
