I would like to move my A/C unit 8 feet; from the rear corner of the house to the side of the house. Can I?

The A/C sits under my kitchen window and right outside my sliding glass door. It needs to be moved because of the noise and installation of a pergola. I plan to lay the concrete pad and have a HVAC disconnect and reconnect the A/C. Do I need to have a permit for this?

Answer
You can call or go to the local building official to inquire if it will be against code. You may also want to check with the subdivision jurisdiction you live in.
The condensing unit will need an experienced HVAC installer for the freon line. He may route it through the basement to exit the house closer to the condensing unit.
You will also need an electrition. He probably will need to install a new exterior outlet for the hard wire connection closer to the condensing unit.
