A "friend" is coming over to tell me about an "investment opportunity" in which you buy an already placed credit card machine (or even better several). It allegedly returns $15 a month for the rest of your life. the machines are about $1000. I know it's a scam, but can anyone give me details on how it works?

It seems every couple weeks one of my friends finds that latest scam and I have to unwrap it for them to show them what it is. I've recently had to deal with friends brainwashed like a residents at Jones town by Primerica and YTB. cool Aid anyone?:)
Yes, I have heard of this scam.
The details are fuzzy, but I seem to remember that they get you to buy the machine and pay a monthly processing fee. when you find that no one is using it, they will not return your money.
This kind of CC processing is also likely to be illegal and you may find yourself being audited and/or charged with unlicensed financial activity by the federal government.
Run, don't walk, away from this. If you have any love & concern for your friend, tell him/her to run away as well.

If you spend $1000 to make $15 a month thats 5 years (66 months ) before you have even repaid your initial outlay.

The chicken and salad just happened to be served today. My dining hall does "grill" right after lunch and since I went around 2 there was limited choices so I just ordered a chicken & mozz sandwich and tossed the bread. Dinner just happened to have this tasty lemon-garlic chicken so I went with that, lol. Should have more choices tomorrow, looking forward to nomming some eggs, bacon, and sausage in the morn.

Personally, I think the federal government could be eliminated and create one new super agency to replace it that would provide security for the common defense.

There are plenty of websites that can help you out. You don't need a specific one to file against someone just because they work for the federal government. All these websites offer free consultations. I've used http://www.badproducts.com before and they referred me to helpful outside lawyers but I'm sure there are a million other websites just like them.
So john claims we are getting what we asked for (services etc), how many of us want to pay for PP to do abortions or any other services, how many of us are interested in paying GM to stay afloat, how many of us voted to fund cowboy poets, how many would vote to fund the National Endowment for the Arts or NPR Public Broadcasting. I'm sorry john the federal government is a frankenstien monster that is no longer under control. They spend money on things that if put to vote would never ever survive.
