Mr. Kuhn needs to consider selling the building if he truly believes that he can sell it for $1.5 million. This will enable Mr. Kuhn to pay-off the Washington Mutual loan and his credit card debt and provide some cash reserves. As part of the sale, he will rent the building from the new owner at current lease rates.

Schools … I’m all for charter schools, abolishing the Dept. of Education and returning the schools back to the local communities. How to pay for schools? What I’d like to see is school finances brought under rational control and taxes lowered overall. But tax credits work for now.

Fair enough. I realize that moderating the comments on a blog can be a full-time job (I have a friend who in fact turned off comments on her professional blog because the only viable alternative was to let them run free, which wasn’t working). I mean, I feel like something should be done–but that’s easy for me to say, speaking as a random commenter who isn’t going to be the one who has to do it.

Please listen to this man. My wife and I are 27, having a daughter in a week and we are around 10k in credit card debt. It hurts man, it hurts bad.

The game has changed in the last few years: when I went to university it was easy to get out with minimal or no debt. These days it's easy to graduate with debt that can enslave you for 10 or 15 years. Since student debt is higher than credit card debt, it is clear that this is the situation for a lot of recent grads. Young adults saddled with a high debt burden aren't going to become entrepreneurs, artists or experiment with their lives: they're going to get jobs at the pencil factory.

And that leads me to one of my central contentions - choice really only works well in a European style system, such as France, where school finances come from the national government, parents tend to prefer demanding schools, schools in the choice system are public, and kids can choose schools in any town.
